Suzan Shown Harjo
Suzan Shown Harjo (Cheyenne & Hodulgee Muscogee), President of The Morning Star Institute and columnist for Indian Country Today, is a globally renowned, multi award-winning (including the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civilian honor) poet, writer, lecturer, curator, activist, and policy advocate who, since the 1960s, has worked tirelessly to help Native Peoples protect sacred places, recover a million+ acres of land and defend their sovereignty and cultures.
